Description
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR VACANCY
The Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) seeks an accomplished, collaborative, and forward-thinking executive leader with the knowledge, experience, and professional credentials necessary to lead a statewide association serving Wisconsin’s over 400 locally elected school boards and public-school districts. Start Date: On or before July 1, 2027
Education & Professional Preparation:
• An advanced degree is strongly preferred in education, law, public administration, business administration, organizational leadership, association or nonprofit management, or another field directly related to the responsibilities of the position.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• A combination of advanced professional preparation, relevant certifications, and significant executive-level experience may be considered in evaluating a candidate's overall qualification.
Executive Leadership Experience:
Significant leadership experience in an association, educational organization, nonprofit organization, governmental entity, legal organization, business, or other complex organization, including experience in several of the following areas:
Executive and organizational leadership
Strategic planning and implementation
Board governance and board-executive relationships
Fiscal management, budgeting, and organizational stewardship
Staff leadership, supervision, development, and succession planning
Public policy, advocacy, governmental relations, or legislative processes
Member or constituent services and engagement
Communications, public relations, and organizational visibility
Program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement
Partnership, coalition, and relationship building
Organizational change, innovation, and technology
The Executive Director must also be willing and able to maintain a significant statewide presence, including extensive travel throughout Wisconsin, periodic out-of-state travel, and regular evening and occasional weekend commitments.
