The Wheatland J1 School District is a rural PK–8 district in Kenosha County 10 miles east of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It is situated conveniently between Milwaukee and Chicago and offers a rural environment that is a short drive from multiple small towns and large urban centers. Wheatland operates as a single-building district serving approximately 650 students. Resident students feed into Westosha High School and Wilmot High School by district boundary. Wheatland has become a destination district with 270 students open-enrolling from 16 districts and over 400 square miles. The District has approximately 100 employees and a general fund budget of approximately 9 million. The District is financially sound and has had excellent community support in recent referendums.

Staff - The Wheatland staff is excellent. It is bolstered by a strong leadership team and a strong mission to put students first. Wheatland has a very low turnover rate for certified staff as compared to neighboring districts. Many of the current staff members have been honored with professional accolades and have presented around the state.

Wheatland  boasts a thriving community education program and summer school that offer unique opportunities for the community's children and adults. The PTO fundraises for student needs every year and hosts multiple opportunities for the community to get involved. The facility serves as a community hub for events that create connections for families and staff all year long. One of the most impressive is Grandparent’s Day in the spring where over 600 grandparents come to enjoy Wheatland for an afternoon of games and bonding.

Academic Strength - Wheatland consistently performs above Wisconsin state averages on core subjects and has been in the Exceeds Expectations category in nearly every year the report card has been in existence. The district continues to be a leader in STEM education and has two sections of multi-aged Personalized Learning Academies in 5-8th grade. Wheatland students participate and have been recognized at both the local and state level for academic and state competitions.
